OVERVIEW

Our client is seeking an experienced professional to work in conjunction with the Business Security Advisor in developing and implementing security policies, practices, awareness programmes or processes in order to mitigate risk faced by our people, assets, brands and information.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide guidance to the senior management and other business partners.
  • Indirect reporting – any security service provider that will be utilised for security duties.
  • Report to Business Security Advisor on all aspects of security affecting the company.
  • Work closely with contract security managers and police force on all aspects of security.
  • Work as part of a national business security team.
  • Review security procedures on all company sites allocated in the Gauteng area and recommend appropriate policies to ensure that personnel, assets, sites, brands and intellectual property are protected.
  • Review personal security and recommend changes as and when necessary.
  • Participate in crisis management in the event of commercial or executive threat.
  • Ensure technical security systems on all sites provide the optimum level of cost effective security.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of threat assessment to property, assets and personnel.
  • Assist Business Security Advisor with anti-counterfeit initiatives.
  • Coordinate all anti-counterfeit investigations in conjunction with any third party service provider.
  • Review security of computer systems and intellectual property and advise where necessary.
  • Review all existing security practices for equipment and contracts to ensure effectiveness.
  • Make recommendations for the rationalisation of all aspects of security.
  • Conduct/supervise investigations into suspected criminal matters and liaise with relevant law enforcement agencies.
  • Assist appropriate brand managers and outsourced events companies with event and activation security.
  • Conduct proactive operational planning to ensure that all high profile visitors are sufficiently secured when conducting visits.
  • Stay abreast of criminal activities in the region and provide monthly feedback on trends affecting the distribution of company product.
  • React to all company security related incidents when they occur and coordinate service providers in a cost effective manner.
  • Develop a Code of Business Conduct (CoBC) champion and conduct professional investigations in an ethical manner should the CoBC be breached by internal or external stakeholders.
  • Network with all internal and external business security partners including SAPS, NPA, SARS, etc.
  • Develop and implement in conjunction with Business Security Advisor, business security awareness programmes which would empower all company personnel.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Grade 12 minimum.
  • 2-3 years experience within a security enforcement firm or similar role in a relevant industry.
  • PSIRA registered.
  • Formal training is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Diploma/certificate in conventional physical security and crime prevention.
  • Diploma/certificate in advanced security operations.
  • Specific training in fire fighting, investigations, intelligence, fraud awareness and preventions.
  • In-depth knowledge of security issues, almost certainly acquired from several years’ experience in the police service, armed forces or security industry.
  • Knowledge of interaction between company and law enforcement agencies in kidnap/extortion and crisis management cases.
  • Experience of commerce in relation to the police and crime.
  • Knowledge of electronic surveillance systems.
  • Ability to negotiate terms and structure of security contracts.
  • Experience in working with complex syndicate investigations, information and intelligence gathering.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Extensive working knowledge of court proceedings.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal (English).
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and act on own initiative.
  • Build strong relationships with external service providers and partners.
  • Ability to plan and conduct operational activities in stressful and time critical circumstances.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Candidate will handle sensitive information and advice concerning serious crime affecting the Company.
  • Within agreed objectives and strategy, have a high degree of autonomy to ensure correct and timely implementation of policy.
  • Have immediate authority to take charge during incidents that breach security and are responsible for the conduct of investigations.
  • Will need to be fully mobile and available 24-hours, 7 days a week to respond to crisis situations.
