Our client, a leading manufacturer in product and data security technology, is looking to employ an experienced Safety and Security Controller to join their team.

The Safety and Security Controller will be responsible for all aspects of Safety, Security and the relevant policies and procedures to ensure the smooth running of the function.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Managing evacuations, fire drills and other emergency controls.
  • Ensuring contingency plans.
  • Managing access control, physical security and outsourcing.
  • Liaising with various contractors.
  • Implementing and managing various policies and procedures: TS3, OHASA, COID, Safe Work Practices, Material Safety Data Sheets, Documentation Control, Audit verifications, appointment letters and Sensitive/Non-sensitive waste.

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • Previous safety and security / risk management training.
  • Previous experience in a similar environment is essential.
  • Supervisory knowledge / experience.
  • Excellent working knowledge of OHASA.
  • Computer literate.

Personal Skills/Attributes:

  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • The ability to supervise, implement and maintain all safety and security functions.
  • A team player, but also able to use initiative.

Overview:

OVERVIEW

Our client is a recognised leader in the oil and gas industry and seeking a Corporate Security Advisor for inland operations to identify, develop, implement and manage corporate security strategies and programs.  The candidate will provide proactive and reactive protection of people, assets, operations and company reputation against security related risks in order to prevent and minimize all losses at optimum cost benefit to the company and ensure optimum business continuity.

This position is based in Parktown, Johannesburg and will primarily be responsible for security operations at inland facilities in South Africa which includes Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Northern Province and Free State. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Proactive and reactive security advisory and management capacity across company depots, distribution centres, regional and head offices.
Emergency response and evacuation planning across the business.
Security risk management and conducting security audits across projects.
Security investigations.
Awareness and training across the group.
Communication and interface management.
Project management.
Retail security.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES
 
Detailed knowledge of:

  • Security risk management and principles.
  • Forensic practices and principles.
  • SAPS procedures and processes.
  • Corporate governance.
  • National Key Points Act.
  • Workable knowledge of relevant SAP modules.
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the business.
  • A working knowledge of the LRA.

Position: Security Manager (Advisor)

Our client is a global security specialist and a leading provider of security services to corporate clients and individuals.  They offer a range of preventative and reactive security solutions to ensure preparedness for the unexpected and to minimise risks to personnel, operations and profitability. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide up-to-date and pertinent security advice to customers via the website, email and telephone.
  • Identify and develop the skills of the Security Team and assist in the coordination of responses.
  • Select, train and manage an in-house security advice team to provide security advice via telephone and email and to contribute to the website advice content.
  • Manage and motivate the 24/7 team of security advisors.
  • Work with team members to ensure a consistent, professional service is maintained at all times.
  • Cost and coordinate responses to client requirements.
  • Research various security issues and identify security trends.  
  • Write security advisories in a consistent and concise format for publishing on the company’s website.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a communications role within law enforcement.
  • Possess a thorough grasp of personal security issues.
  • Have comprehensive background knowledge gained through experience within law enforcement.
  • Must have the ability to relate and compare data from different sources and rapidly identify issues and secure relevant information.  
  • Must have attention to detail and be able to effectively quality check.
  • Able to provide coaching, training and skills development for a team through appropriate development activities.
  • Develop positive and trusting working relationships at all levels of business.
  • Provide a quality service and maintain high professional standards. 
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in English. 
  • Have a high standard of computer literacy including a broad knowledge of internet based research methods.
  • Must be available after hours to co-ordinate responses.
  • International experience will be advantageous.

This position is Cape Town based and will be for a fixed term of twelve months initially.
